Tuesday night jackpots in Fountain!
It was a beautiful night to get the summer started. We had a decent turnout for the minimal amount of advertising that was done - mostly word of mouth and a few internet sites. Andy Dickens' dad worked the ground more than a few times before the event and MaryAnna Clemons learned how to not dig holes in the ground with the "Hog" while trying to rake between every five barrel racers. Fran Carrick lent her voice to our announcer's booth and Ardith Bruce and Dan Hernandez were the treasurer's.
We are hoping to have concessions at the next event. The FRRC added $200 to the first two races to see how that would help promote the jackpots and the racers were able to earn a bit of money for supporting our event.
April 22 will have $200 added again and we encourage everyone to come and have a good time. The May 3rd race will be an SCBRA money-maker (no added money). Please utilize word of mouth advertising and let people know we've changed our jackpot nights and that we are working toward keeping and finding more added money for the racers. We need your support to keep that going!

10-event series in Fountain, Colorado
It certainly has been awhile since I have updated this blog, but we are going to have a 10-event series this Spring - Summer - Fall.
No kidding. We will have a series of 10 events and it's not for the type of barrel racer that is already winning big bucks (although, if you are seasoning a horse, you might want to come and play) but rather for the barrel racer who is trying to get with a new horse; trying to season a young horse; training any old horse; a younger barrel racer who is just starting out; or any barrel racers who would like to earn some nice awards. All ages and abilities are welcome!
Every place will receive a nice award, period (not just the top three or five or even ten - everyone - you pay, you play, you earn! And it will be a nice award.). This is a volunteer force and you will be expected to help. The event is co-sponsored by the Fountain Riding and Roping Club, but is being run as a separate event. Particulars: You must be a member to be in the series; $15 for barrels or $23 for barrels and poles or just $8 for poles; we will have 10 events, you must participate in 7 and you are allowed to "buy" a night with no points added; you are required to work four of the events and anyone can work the event for you (husband, grandma, etc) and you can also "buy" a work night; $3 exhibitions, $5 non-member exhibitions; a D for every rider since our barrels are fast time plus 2 seconds between each D and for poles it's fast time plus three seconds!
Award goal is a buckle for each barrels D and a jacket for each poles D winner. Awards will be based on money raised via participation and fund-raising.
Please contact MaryAnna Clemons (clemonsmary@yahoo.com or 719-683-5202) for more info or show up on April 22 at 7 pm to join and run - exhibitions start at 7:30 and the race is to follow. If we have a tractor driver, we'll rake, if we don't we'll hand rake. Dates of series: April 22; May 6 & 27; June 10 & 17; July 8; Aug. 12 & 26; Sept. 9 & 23; rain-dates Oct. 7 & 21; Awards tentatively cheduled for Nov. 27.
Thank you.
We have a barrels and poles series coming up in Fountain, Colo., just for you! 100% of the entry fees (minus $1 a run for the club) go toward your awards.
